FREE PATTERN! Ribbed Newborn Crochet Bonnet

It has been a really long time since I have posted on my blog so to make up for it, I’m going to publish a free pattern!

I have not had anyone test this pattern so please let me know if you come across any problems/errors.

I used Red Heart with Love yarn and an I hook.

Your chain 3 will count as the first stitch in each row so start double crocheting or backpost double crocheting in the 2nd stitch in each row.

The right side of your work will have ridges and the wrong side of your work will be smooth.

Chain 33

1. DC in 4th chain from hook and across. (31) Turn.

2. Chain 3 (remember, this counts as the first stitch) Bpdc (backpost double crochet) in the next 29 stitches and DC in your chain 3 from the previous row. (2 DC and 29 Bpdc). Turn.

3. Chain 3. DC in each stitch across. (31 DC)

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you have 11 rows total.

Fold in half with the wrong side facing out (see photo) and slip stitch together. Finish off. Turn right side out.

Join yarn in one of the corners and single crochet around. In each corner single crochet, chain 1, single crochet. Finish off and weave in ends.

Cut yarn to desired length for braids. I used 3 strands folded in half for each braid.
